Position: Domestic Violence Shelter Coordinator

Location: Woodstock, IL

Pay Range: $50,000-58,000

Full Time – 35-hour schedule. (Benefit Eligible)

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Some flexibility to reach 35 hours.

Position Summary:

The Shelter Coordinator provides leadership and supervision to the Shelter Advocates. The Shelter Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and management of the on site shelter .The Shelter Coordinator maintains a safe and supportive residential environment for residents and Shelter Advocates. The position proactively builds supportive relationships with residents, role models appropriate behaviors and boundaries, ensures that the residents follow the Shelter’s policies, and collaborates with team members and management to identify and proactively communicate areas for improvement.

This position will ensure shelter coverage for designated shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights, to help provide 24/7 coverage. This position is integral to creating a warm, welcoming, and trauma-informed space for all.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all Shelter staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of shelter services to clients. All staff should be provided with 1x1 supervision from the coordinator (shared with the Weekend Team Lead.)
  • Provide strong leadership to all shelter staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of shelter services to clients
  • Role model and uphold a trauma-informed approach throughout shelter operations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to Shelter Advocates when situations arise at the Shelter.
  • Encourage and support staff to promote an environment of mutual respect and empowerment for all staff and residents.
  • Assist with Supervising and maintaining shelter shift schedules, ensuring 24 hours a day coverage and covering shift if necessary.
  • Proactively engages residents in a manner that reinforces our trauma-informed principles and builds a supportive space.
  • Responds to resident questions and reinforce critical safety guidelines and resident rights and responsibilities as needed.
  • Assists Shelter Advocates in navigating in-house conflicts, refers residents to client advocates as needed, and role models healthy boundaries, self-awareness, and self-care.
  • Assess serious safety violations that necessitate the need for emergency discharge and conduct the discharge process in accordance with agency protocol.
  • Keeps accurate service documentation, including accident report forms, etc.
  • Attends monthly team meetings to share concerns, build community, acquire information, and discuss case issues.
  • Will ensure that the Shelter is a clean, safe, and orderly environment and will promptly report security or maintenance issues.
  • Availability for On-Call Duties participating in a on-call schedule to address staff issues and emergencies outside of regular working hours, ensuring continuous support and oversight of shelter operations.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or the human service field strongly preferred.

MHP required

One- or two-years’ experience in Domestic Violence or Human Services is preferred.

Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

ICADV Certification (within one year of employment)
